2026 Forest Camps

Lamoille County Conservation District & Mud City Forest School
Forest Camp 2026
For over twenty years, LCCD has been providing nature-based education through the Lamoille County Nature Center, Mud City Forest school and our Forest Camp program. Days spent in the fields and woods allow children to develop a long and lasting relationship with nature that will inspire our future leaders and stewards of the land. This year we will be offering 4 weeks of camps! Camps will be 5 days a week, 9am-3pm Mondays-Fridays. Camps take place at our 40 acre off grid nature preserve in Morrisville and are led by experienced environmental educators. Your kids will come home dirty, happy and exhausted from a full day of playing, exploring, and learning. Most of our camps this year offer a mix of structured activities (such as a craft project or lessons and activities), with free time to explore the forest or play high-energy traditional camp games like gaga ball and camouflage. Please select a camp theme that suits your child’s interests and energy needs.

In this April break camp, we will be exploring the world of native Vermont Birds, creating art, playing games, and enjoying hot chocolate around the fire. **SUMMER CAMPS**
⁑ ⅲ Fantastic Fairies and Where to Find Them-Best for Ages 5-7 - June 22nd-26th
Have you ever seen a fairy? Where do you think they hide? Do you like to paint, play games, build, and explore? In this camp for our littlest campers, we will traverse the forest searching for fairies! We will make fairy wands, build fairy houses, and visit the fairy’s frog friends. This camp will be structured, with activities suitable for younger youth. Campers will have time to enjoy imaginative play, forest crafts, mud-pie making, and storytelling. Each day will include a snack! Please note: We do not have the capacity to offer naptime, so campers should be ready for a full-day camp without napping, and be able to use the toilet themselves.
⁂ ⅰ Wild Explorers - 5 + - July 6th-10th
Calling all wild children! In this annual wild-themed camp, we will run through the forests and the fields, playing games and building forts. This camp is loosely structured and will include lots of choice time. We have a variety of forest games to play, focusing on building community, emphasizing fun over competition. Each day includes a snack! We will also craft, make art, explore nature, and enjoy free time. Wild explorers usually go home dirty, tired, and happy. Please note: We do not have the capacity to offer naptime, so campers should be ready for a full-day camp without napping, and be able to use the toilet themselves.
⁑ ⅱ Viking Camp - Best for Ages 7+ - July 13th-17th
If your youth enjoys the stories of Odin and Loki, and if they are often in search of treasure, Viking Camp may help them on their quest. Will there be sword-making? Yes! Viking Campers will embark on a journey to discover secret places in the forests and fields. Will there be dragons? Viking Camp is a semi-structured camp with time for themed activities, choice time, and free play. Youth will be able to learn knife and fire safety skills, depending on child readiness. Each day includes a snack! Expect movement games, forest exploration, crafting, and storytelling. Adventure awaits!
⁑ ⅲ Fantasy World Travelers - Best for Ages 7+ - July 20th-July 24th
For the fantasy lovers, we have a camp that will transport you to 5 different well-loved worlds. Each day will be themed around a book/series with crafts, games, and activities to match. We will incorporate free time and choices, making this a semi-structured camp that everyone will enjoy. In addition to the daily theme, we will play in the forest, fields, and wetlands. We will create and build, enjoy stories, and play. Expect dragons, magic, and world-hopping. Each day includes a snack! Here is a list of possible universes we will explore (subject to change!): How to Train your Dragon, Amari and the Night Brothers, Wings of Fire, Keeper of the Lost Cities, and Strangeworlds.
