Description

Witch Hazel (Hamamelis virginiana)

Growing Conditions: It should be planted on the north side of homes and north-facing slopes where semi-shaded habits are more common as it is an understory plant. It prefers rich moist soils and requires regular watering when being established.

Ecological Benefits: Witch Hazel is a species with high wildlife value, as it’s a food source for many species of moths and butterflies; birds such as wild turkeys eat the seeds.
