SUMMER TIME NOTES

Spring was especially busy for us, we apologize for the delay in updating the website! After planting over 4000 trees and shrubs along riverbanks thoughout the Lamoille Watershed, leading a variety of school and vacation day programs with over 300 students, and planning for summer, we are finally able to catch our breath!

Lamoille County Natural Resources Conservation District and Nature Center has many plans for our future, one is to shorten our name to Lamoille County Conservation District (LCCD) so that people will recognize who we are and the good work we do. The website will get a face-lift, thanks to Davis Hill Design, to better inform our members and visitors and we'll be able to share the many images of our work in the field, nature center, and various projects that keep us away from our desks.

Summer camps are in full swing, for more information on the Summer Camp Programs at our Lamoille County Nature Center property, please follow the link below.

Lamoille Valley Farm and Forest Initiative

LCNRCD supports the working landscape and advocates for a farm and forest lands-based economy of the Lamoille River Watershed through the Lamoille Valley Farm and Forest Initiative (LVFFI). The initiative is comprised of a series of projects that support the working landscape, be it farming or forestry or their secondary markets. For more information, access LVFFI

Lamoille River Watershed Farm & Forest Directory

This is an amazing resource if you are looking to “buy local” when it comes to agricultural and forestry products available here in the Lamoille watershed. The directory is a project of the Lamoille Valley Farm & Forest Initiative (LVFFI) and is supported by the Sustainable Future Fund, the WaterWheel Foundation, the Vermont Agency of Agriculture and the Northern Vermont RC&D. OUR MISSION

The Lamoille County Natural Resources Conservation District was established 1945 in response to the degradation of natural resources vital to the agricultural livelihood of residents in Lamoille County.

Working in Partnership with the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Conservation District works:

  • To maintain and improve our natural resources

  • To aid and educate our fellow citizens to
appreciate and adjust to the changes taking place in our natural resource system.

  • To be a local voice for conservation, preservation and stewardship of all natural resources and work in conjunction with other agencies (private and public) at the grassroots level.
