APRIL....

Preschool Program, Spectacular Spiders

    Friday, April 2, 9:30-11:30.  Ages 3-5 years   LCNRCD office

    Activities will consist of inside and outside explorations, stories, games & crafts.  Parents are welcome to stay if they like.  Participants should bring a snack and wear clothing appropriate to the weather. $8/ members, $12/non-members. See description for April 7.

Children’s Program, Spectacular Spiders

    Wednesday, April 7, 3:00-4:00.  Grades 2-4   Stowe Free Library

    Come learn why spiders are so spectacular!  What’s the difference between spiders and insects?  How do spiders help people?  We’ll watch a special spider puppet show, look at the body parts of a spider, take some web-building lessons and try to “catch” some flies, and make our own spiders to take home.  No registration required. FREE!

Spring Vacation Day Camps

    Monday – Friday, April 19-23, 9:00-3:00   Ages:  5-11 years
    Morrisville Locations - call Carrie for details.

    Activities will include inside and outside explorations, stories, games, and crafts.  Participants will need to bring a snack & lunch and clothing to be inside and out.  $35/day members, $40/day non-members OR $150/week members, $175/non-members.  Scholarships available.

    We’ll use our eyes and ears to create a Lamoille County Nature Center checklist of resident and migrating birds. Please bring binoculars and your field guide to add to your list as well!  Free/members, $5/non-members.

Children’s Program, Morrisville Spring Games

    Saturday, May 1, 10:00-2:00.  Ages 2-12 years   Morrisville Elementary School

    Come play with the nature center and the Morrisville Recreation Commission on this fun-filled, active day for families.  The Games offer a variety of “fit and healthy” activities for children.  No registration required. FREE!

Children’s Program, Bees - What’s All the Buzz About?

    Wednesday, May 5, 3:00-4:00.  Grades 2-4   Stowe Free Library

    We’ll learn how bees make their honey and other treats/tricks they use to help people, act out what it’s like to live in a beehive, practice some bee dancing, and sample local honey. No registration required.  FREE!

Nature Program, Creating Wildlife Habitat

    Saturday, May 15, 9:00-11:00am
    Lamoille County Nature Center

    Discover the different methods to create a wildlife area in your backyard. Participants will learn and practice the management

    techniques used to complement the creature comforts of water, food, and shelter for specific animals.  Please bring work gloves and sturdy boots.  Free/members, $5/non-members.

    Wednesday, June 2, 10:00-11:00.  Ages 3-5 years

    What types of snakes live in Vermont?  Learn who’s who, play Ribbit/Hiss and Slink/Think, act out a Native American story about snakes, and test out your snake making techniques.  No registration required. FREE!

    Come help spruce up our nature center in preparation for our summer camps. 

Nature Program, Elmore Mountain Hike to Beaver Meadow 

    Saturday, June 26, 9:00-12:00. All ages welcome

    Discover the small things that you may have passed by on Elmore Mountain. We’ll search for some treasures of the woods and wet meadows.  For those who have yet to see a Lady’s slipper blooming, this journey is for you! Please call LCNCRCD to register. Free/members, $5/non-members.

Nature Program, Native Landscaping 

    Saturday, July 10, 9:00-11:00.
    Lamoille County Nature Center

    Add color to your yard and you’ll add attention from bees and birds by planting native perennials. Participants will receive a plethora of information about native plants and how to use them best, and invasive plants and how to deal with pests!  Free/members, $5/non-members.

Nature Program, Managing Trout Ponds 

    Saturday, August 21, 9:00-12:00.

    Scheduled when folks have many questions concerning lower water levels, this workshop aims to answer your questions and introduce you to some healthy and productive measures to take for the health of your pond. $20/members, $25/non-members.
